Local student donates his hair in school fundraiser
With the help of his classmates, a student’s donation made the cut
PEORIA (25News Now) - A local school has been working to help families who need it the most.
Students at Concordia Lutheran School held a fundraiser for the Children’s Home of Illinois. They’ve been collecting donations all month, but Thursday a student decided to give it all... His hair that is.
For every ponytail sixth grader Gus Meyer had cut off, a $5 donation was made to the Children’s Home, and his hair is going to Locks of Love.
Paul Thompson, the school’s principal says he’s honored to see students using the lessons they’re taught.
“It just makes you proud of what is being transferred to the students as far as what’s truly important in life, and what’s important in life is serving others. “
Gus says he’s donated his hair before this, and he hopes to serve as an inspiration to his classmates.
