(25News Now) - Small schools baseball sectionals kicked off on Wednesday around the state. At the Class 2A Millikin Sectional, Eureka advanced to the sectional title game with a 7-2 win over Tolono Unity. They’ll take on Bloomington Central Catholic for the sectional title Saturday. The Saints stormed past Oakwood 15-0 in four innings to move on.
The big schools baseball state tourney kicked off on Wednesday as well. At the Class 3A Washington regional, Peoria Richwoods stunned top seed Washington 2-0 behind a four-hit shutout from Chase Klausing. They’ll take on Limestone who beat Metamora 4-2 in the other regional semifinal.
At the 3A Morton regional, the host Potters topped Peoria High 4-0 to move onto the regional championship game where they’ll battle East Peoria who beat Peoria Notre Dame 5-3.
At the 3A Bloomington regional, Normal West’s season ended with a 6-2 loss to Champaign Central.
In softball, two time defending state champion Illini Bluffs is headed back to the sectional title game. The Tigers beat Pleasant Hill 4-3 on the power of two home runs, including a walk off from Lexi Brinkman. They will play host Havana for a 1A sectional title on Friday.
In Class 2A, Tremont is moving onto the Class 2A Rockridge sectional championship game. The Turks beat Port Byron Riverdale 2-1. They’ll play the hosts and two-time defending state champion Rockridge in Friday’s regional title game.
In lacrosse, Washington keeps on marching. The Panthers will play in their own sectional title game after a 7-5 win over Lincoln-Way West. Bloomington-Normal’s season ended in a loss to Tinley Park Andrew.
