Peoria firefighters begin collecting school supplies
This is the second year for “Fill the Fire Truck”
PEORIA (25News Now) - Local firefighters are again collecting school supplies for local students.
Peoria is now accepting donations for “Fill the Fire Truck.” The idea came about last year to help local children while also engaging more with the community.
Scott Howard, the Secretary of the Peoria Afro American Firefighters Association says getting kids ready for school each year can be a great financial burden, but working together can help.
“Seeing all of us together as organizations, especially with the park district and us and the police. We all work together, and when we do that, the things that we can accomplish in this city are innumerable.”
Firetrucks will be parked outside various Walmart participations to accept donations all summer.
