(25News Now) - It was a busy evening of postseason high school soccer on Tuesday. At the Class 2A Dunlap sectional, Peoria Notre Dame moved on with a 2-0 win over Metamora. The Irish will take on Geneseo in the sectional title game on Friday. The Maple Leafs beat Morton 3-2 despite a valiant Potters comeback effort.

At the 2A Normal West sectional, the host Wildcats had their season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Rochester.

At the Class 3A Edwardsville sectional, Normal Community’s season is over after a 6-4 loss to top-seeded Minooka.

At the Class 1A Herscher Super-Sectional, Normal U-High is headed back to the IHSA State Finals for the second straight season. The Pioneers rallied to beat Herscher in penalty kicks to advance to the state semifinals.

In softball, small schools sectionals got going on Tuesday. At the 2A Pontiac sectional, the host Indians fell 1-0 to Beecher. At the 2A Quincy Notre Dame sectional, Olympia fell 7-5 to the host Raiders.

Big schools regionals also kicked into full swing on Tuesday. At the 3A Metamora regional, the host Redbirds beat Peoria Richwoods 18-0. They will play Dunlap for the regional championship on Friday. At the 3A Washington regional, the host Panthers beat Limestone 5-1. They will play Lincoln for a regional title on Friday.

At the 3A Normal West regional, East Peoria is moving onto the regional championship game after a 10-0 win over Morton. They will face the host Wildcats on Friday for the regional title. Normal West beat Bloomington 10-0 to advance.
