Warm again tomorrow, but cooling down later this week

PEORIA (25News Now) - We need rain, but unfortunately our forecast looks dry for at least the next 7-10 days. Warm weather is also expected to continue for most of the next week and a half, except for a few cooler days later this week.

Temperatures:

After a warm day today, we’ll see seasonal temperatures overnight as lows fall back into the mid to upper 50s. Tomorrow’s weather should be very similar to today’s as highs rebound back into the mid 80s.

A backdoor cold front will pass through late tomorrow, and behind it we’ll see a quick break from the heat. Highs will be in the low 70s on Thursday and upper 70s on Friday.

Temperatures will rebound back into the low to mid 80s this weekend and upper 80s by Memorial Day on Monday. Hot weather is expected to continue into the middle of next week with temperatures possibly reaching the low 90s.

Rain Chances:

Tomorrow’s cold front will be a dry one which means that dry weather will continue. We may not see chances for showers and storms return to our forecast until the second half of next week, but even as it stands now those chances are only about 20%.

Our monthly rainfall deficit will continue to grow and could reach around 3″ by the end of the month next week.

Flash drought conditions may develop, which is defined as the rapid onset or intensification of drought conditions. This is something that farmers will need to monitor very closely now that we are in the growing season.

Smoke:

Something else to keep an eye on is the return of some smoke to Central Illinois. We are not expecting any widespread negative health impacts, but if you have a respiratory conditions you may want to limit your time outside and you could feel some discomfort.
