Police arrest man suspected of illegally having loaded handgun in Downtown Peoria

PEORIA (25News Now) - A man was taken into custody early Sunday after Peoria Police reportedly found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in a parked vehicle in the downtown area.
Peoria Police said in a news release that officers were conducting a security check about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a business in the 400 block of SW Jefferson.
Officers said they saw the gun in the car, and watched two men walk away from the vehicle. Police said they saw one of the men come back and open the car door with a key fob.
Police said they took Terrance Burnside into custody and seized the gun.
Burnside, 33, was booked for not having a firearm owners identification card (FOID), unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
