Coroner: Man identified after Monday morning shooting

UPDATE 5:05 P.M. - Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the man as 29-year-old Roy L. Payne of South Westmoreland Avenue in Peoria.
Payne was transported to OSF unresponsive, not breathing and with no pulse.
He was pronounced dead at 9:53 a.m.
Autopsy shows that he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and died instantly.
The case remains under investigation by the police department.
UPDATE 2:29 P.M. - Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth says officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Westmoreland for a four-round ShotSpotter alert.
While en route, officers were also dispatched to the 1800 block on a report of a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole.
They located an adult man with apparent gunshot wounds when they arrived on scene.
The identity and cause and manner of death will be released by the coroner.
There is currently no suspect information. The incident is under investigation.
UPDATE 10:58 A.M. - Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the man from the shooting has died.
His autopsy is scheduled for later Monday.
PEORIA (25News Now) - The driver of a vehicle is in critical condition after being shot and crashing into a light pole.
Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria says police responded at around 8:45 a.m. to the shooting.
He said he didn’t know the order of events - if the shooting came before or after the crash.
Age is not known, but it appears the driver is an African-American male.
It happened in the area of the 1800 block of Westmoreland.
