PEORIA (25News Now) - The future of a carbon dioxide pipeline through central Illinois is unresolved, and you can voice your opinion and learn more on Monday.

Wolf Carbon and ADM want to bring a 280-mile pipeline from Iowa, running through the south of Peoria.

The purpose is to capture CO2, compress it, and transport it somewhere else for storage.

But, does it bring a risk of danger to the area?

“We have concerns and questions in the event that there’s a safety issue with the pipeline so we want to get the information out there, we want to arm residents with as much information as possible,” said 1st District Councilwoman Denise Jackson.

Because of those concerns, Jackson and the Sierra Club Heart of Illinois will be hosting a meeting to discuss pipeline safety, environmental concerns, and ways to take action.

This meeting is free to participate, snacks will be provided and it will have time for Q+A.

A timeline for the project is unclear, as Jackson tells us the companies still need required permits.
