PEORIA (25News Now) - Local law enforcement officers took part in the annual effort to raise funds for athletes with special needs.
Officers across the state were present at participating Dunkin’ locations for the yearly Cop on a Rooftop. Officers were selling T-shirts, hats, mugs and more with the proceeds benefiting the Special Olympics.
Pekin’s Police Chief John Dossey says it’s something he’s looked forward to over the years of his service. “The 8 years I’ve been here, this the 8th time I’ve done it with them. It’s just a fun opportunity for us to have conversation, connect with the community and prod them a little bit to donate to a good cause.”
The Chief went on to say last year’s turnout was a record high, and hopes to set a new record again this year.
