Medical clinics to be acquired by OSF, while others will close in central Illinois

(25News Now) - OSF Healthcare’s footprint is expected to grow again in central Illinois with new facilities to be purchased. However, many will close as well.

President and CEO of St. Margarets’ Health, Tim Muntz, sent a memo to their employees on Wednesday to alert them of OSF’s Letter of Intent to purchase some assets, including St. Margaret’s Health-Peru hospital and other locations.

Included in this potential acquisition is the entire Peru hospital campus, the parking garage, parking lots, administrative buildings, Midtown Plaza complex, Midtown Health Center, Granville Clinic, Oglesby Clinic, Family Health Center of Spring Valley and Associated Gastroenterology Office.

As for buildings not to be purchased - Lasalle Medical Clinic, Hygienic Institute, Henry Clinic, and Streator Medical Clinic will be closing as of June 9th.

The memo goes on to say that SMH-Spring Valley hospital is in severe financial distress. SMH has requested emergency funding from the state of Illinois, but if they don’t receive it, the hospital may need decrease operations or close as early as June 16th.
