(25News Now) - The Class 1A girls soccer state tournament rolled on Tuesday with sectional semifinal action in Williamsville. Normal U-High advanced to Friday’s sectional championship game with a 10-0 win over Athens. Freshman Aubrey Balota scored five goals for the Pioneers while fellow freshman Scout Minnaert added a hattrick The Pioneers will take on Williamsville for the sectional title. The Bullets beat Bloomington Central Catholic 6-1 to advance to the title game.

In the Class 2A state tournament, regionals got into full swing Tuesday. Richwoods won their own regional semifinal 6-0 over Galesburg to advance to Friday’s championship game. In Class 3A, Pekin scored a 3-2 upset over Moline in the regional semifinals.

It’s also regional time in small schools softball. In Class 1A, the two-time defending state champions got their title defense started with a win. Illini Bluffs beat Lewistown 11-1 in their own regional semifinal. In Class 2A, Tremont beat El Paso-Gridley 10-0 at the Fieldcrest regional while Normal U-High got a 13-5 win over Clinton at the Bloomington Central Catholic regional.

Big schools softball teams are wrapping up the regular season this week. In the Mid-Illini, Metamora clinched at least a share of the conference title with a 10-7, nine-inning win over East Peoria.

In lacrosse, the Washington boys picked up a 17- win over Dunlap in South Suburban Conference action.
