IVC softball’s record-breaking battery ready for one last run together with Grey Ghosts
(25News Now) - IVC senior ace Katie Petran owns every strikeout record for the Grey Ghosts. While the Butler recruit is extremely talented and has earned those records, she’s quick to include her catcher, senior classmate Alaina Creamer, in taking credit for her terrific pitching.
Petran and Creamer have grown up playing softball side-by-side. Katie has always been the pitcher. Alaina has always been the catcher. Their chemistry is so terrific, in fact, that unlike most high school batteries, their coaches do not call the pitches. Alaina calls the game from behind the plate and Katie executes from the circle.
They’re excited to be making one more run together in the state tournament before heading off to college. Petran is set to pitch at Butler while Creamer will stay close to home and play at ICC.
