PEORIA (25News Now) - From art festivals to a musical, check out what’s happening across Central Illinois.

Red Carpet Corridor

Kick off the summer at the annual Red Carpet Corridor. The festival highlights 100 miles of Route 66 and has added Bloomington-Normal to the route. From live entertainment to antique and craft sales, each of the 14 participating communities will have their own festivities. Enjoy the drive, stop and participate in activities, or do a little shopping. There is sure to be something unique for everyone. Download the mobile app “Explore Illinois Route 66″ and check in at all 14 locations for a chance to win a prize package worth over 100 dollars.

Swinging Bridges Arts Festival

In collaboration with Red Carpet Corridor, downtown Pontiac is hosting the Swinging Bridges Arts Festival. This is a family-friendly event for all ages to enjoy. There will be live music, fine art vendors, food trucks, and interactive activities for the last day of the festival.

When: May 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Spoon River Spring Forward Drive

You might be familiar with the Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive every fall, but there’s also a spring version! The third annual Spoon River Spring Forward Drive is taking place today, and you don’t want to miss it. Drive through Fulton County and take in the beautiful spring flora while stopping to get some food, wine, and original handmade art from local artists. It’s an all-day event, so trail over any time!

When: May 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Where: Throughout Fulton County (and beyond)

Maifest at the Lindenhof

The Peoria German-American Central Society is hosting its annual Maifest today. Maifest marks the revival of life in early spring after a long, cold winter. You can enjoy German foods, wines, and beer. There will also be a bags tournament for kids and entertainment throughout the day, including Harmonie and Damenchor singers. Admission to the event is free, but dinner is available for a fee.

When: May 7 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Where: The Lindenhof of Peoria

Eid al-Fitr Celebration

Celebrate Peoria’s diverse Muslim community and learn about Eid al-Fitr, a holiday celebrated by Muslims all over the world. The Peoria Playhouse Children’s Museum is hosting this celebration in collaboration with the Islamic Center of Peoria and the Islamic Foundation of Peoria. The event will include story time, henna, prayer on the porch, and traditional Arabic food. The program is free with regular admission to the Playhouse.

When: May 7 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“The Wedding Singer” Musical

If you remember a time when popped collars and big hair were a thing, check out Peoria Players Theatre’s production of “The Wedding Singer.” Based on the hit 1998 movie with Adam Sandler, “The Wedding Singer” tells the story of New Jersey’s favorite singer Robbie Hart and his pursuit of love after being left at the altar. This romantic comedy is sure to warm your heart with its great cast and catchy score.

When: May 7 & 14 at 2:00 p.m. | May 11-13 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Peoria Players Theatre

ICC Chorale Spring Concert

The Illinois Central College Philharmonic Chorale’s spring concert is today. The concert will feature a variety of spiritual, classical, and traditional songs and musical poems.

When: May 7 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Where: ICC Performing Arts Center, 1 College Drive in East Peoria

All About the Mama Market

Celebrate mothers at The Red Barn’s “All About the Mama” Market! Shop an upscale pop-up market with unique vendors, live music, food trucks, and libations. Admission is $3 per person, and kids 5 & under are free.

Mother’s Day Craft

Create a one-of-a-kind gift to tell your mom or the special woman in your life just how much she means to you. Peoria Public Library’s North Branch is hosting a Mother’s Day craft event.
