(25News Now) - The recruiting journey for Bloomington Central Catholic basketball sharpshooter Cole Certa came to an end on Thursday. The 6-foot-4 guard announced his commitment to Notre Dame and head coach Micah Shrewsberry on Thursday. Certa also had offers from the likes of Illinois, Northwestern, Nebraska, Bradley and Illinois State among others.

Thursday brought us a doubleheader of sorts in Big Twelve baseball. Normal Community and Peoria Notre Dame wrapped up their marathon game that began on Tuesday with the Ironmen edging the Irish 9-6 in 11 innings. PND, however, won the second game of the day 5-4.

Elsewhere in the Big Twelve, Bloomington beat Danville 11-6. The win was the 381st of head coach Steve Clapp’s Bloomington career, moving him into a tie with Rich Krueger for the most in program history. He can set a new mark Saturday when the Purple Raiders visit Washington for a doubleheader.

In softball, Mid-Illini leader Metamora kept on rolling with a 4-1 victory over Canton while second-place Washington did the same 12-0 over Limestone.

In lacrosse, Dunlap beat Minooka 11-7. The Eagles also got a big tennis win over Metamora.

On the track, Bloomington hosted their annual Raider Relays event.
