25 Sports High School Tuesday - May 2, 2023

(25News Now) - A big Mid-Illini soccer matchup headlined the night in high school sports on Tuesday. Dunlap scored a 2-1 upset win over Morton to take over first place in the Mid-Illini.

In softball, conference leader Metamora won their 8th Mid-Illini game in a 14-1 win over Morton. Elsewhere, second-place Washington kept pace with a 13-1 win against Pekin while East Peoria handled business with a 7-0 victory over Canton. In Big Twelve Conference softball, Normal West made a statement with a 16-1 win over crosstown rival Normal Community.

In baseball, Normal Community and Peoria Notre Dame battled until there was no more sun. The Ironmen and Irish were tied at 4-4 at the end of the 10th when the game was suspended for darkness. They are set to resume on Thursday. Meanwhile, Normal West swept a doubleheader against Peoria High.

On the track, the Eureka girls won the Heart of Illinois Conference title at El Paso-Gridley on Tuesday night.
