PEORIA (25News Now) - Some kids in Peoria will be looking their best for Easter and heading back to school after spring break thanks to some volunteers.

Thursday, the Proctor Recreation Center had its second annual Cut-A-Thon, offering free haircuts and manicures to kids in Peoria.

They asked for a donation of a personal hygiene product that will go to Peoria Rescue Mission.

One volunteer barber says it’s his way of giving back to his community as he grew up on the south side.

”Making sure I’m doing the right thing and taking care of other people who aren’t able to or sometimes haircuts can get pricey so I’m making sure everything is right with them,” said Tavaris “Zoo the Barber” Waller.

“I think because of school being out it will give the parents an opportunity to come here, so it should be fun,” said Jonelle McCloud, manager of the Proctor Recreation Center.

Tomorrow the Proctor Recreation Center is holding its Easter egg hunt from 1-3 p.m.
