PEORIA (25News Now) - Robots invaded the Fondulac District Library in East Peoria on Saturday.

Five First Robotics teams from area schools hosted a meet-and-greet-style show for kids to learn about the teams.

Students were available to answer questions and demonstrate how their robots were built and used in recent competitions.

The library says by holding this event in their lobby, it allows for kids to learn more about STEM and the resources the library provides for them to one day build and code.

“We have a variety of resources for kids and adults interested in STEM and engineering and coding. We have lot of books with different coding languages and programs,” said Alice Mitchell, the youth services manager of Fondulac District Library.

“Kids deserve the opportunity to be a part of Robotics. It teaches them how to work with the team and it’s something that almost everybody enjoys,” said McKenna Willis, a freshman of the East Peoria Robo Raiders.

The East Peoria Robo Raiders just narrowly missed going to the semi-finals last week, but Willis says the team is already busy preparing to come back even stronger next year.
