EDWARDS (25News Now) - All are welcome far and near to St. Mary’s annual Spring musical.

Hundreds of students with special needs from area schools were invited to watch “Seussical Jr.” on Friday, performed by students at St. Mary’s Catholic School of Kickapoo.

Throughout the musical, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged. This is the 10th year of the school’s musical program and the 8th year that students with special needs were invited to a performance.

The show’s director and choreographer Gillian Cramer believes this production is not just for kids with special needs but for all students. “I wanted to provide a safe space that they could come and enjoy theatre and not be judged. If they need to step out, they can step out and just to give them a sense of what theatre is all about,” she says.

The “Seussical Jr.” musical is something all the students look forward to. Kids from Kindergarten to 8th grade are involved in the show, and according to Principal Bill Lamb, they love it.

Lamb says, “This is a time that our kids get to shine... They do such a phenomenal job.”

The final opportunity to catch the show is March 25 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door for $5 per person.

The school’s address is 9910 W. Knox Street in Edwards.
