Snow to start the weekend

PEORIA (25News Now) - After a rainy end to the work week, winter is trying to make a small comeback to begin the weekend with light snow across Central Illinois. Minor accumulations will be possible before snow begins to melt as temperatures climb to the mid 40′s this afternoon and into the 50′s Sunday.

Saturday: Any remaining rain has changed over to light snow across Central Illinois this morning. Light snow showers will continue for the first half of our Saturday before clouds gradually clear for the second half of the day. Minor accumulations will be possible area wide. A light dusting is possible for areas mainly east of the Illinois River. 1-2″ of snow is possible mainly north of Route 9, with up to 3″ of snow to our north closest to I-80.

Any snow will gradually begin to melt throughout the day as temperatures reach the mid 40′s despite. It’ll feel a bit colder due to northwesterly winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour. As a result of the winds, wind chill values will trend in the mid to lower 30′s.

Sunday: We’ll see improvements for the second half of the weekend. Temperatures will be warmer, trending in the mid to lower 50′s under mostly cloudy skies. A few showers will be possible, but most will remain dry throughout the day.

Next Week: The upcoming work week will feature plenty of dry time and seasonal temperatures with much of the work week trending in the 50′s. Showers will be possible for the ladder end of the week, with rain chances possible Thursday and Friday.
