Rain returns tonight, chance for a wintry mix Saturday
PEORIA (25News Now) - Friday morning begins with dry weather and temperatures in the 30s across central Illinois. Afternoon high temperatures will top out near 50° for most of the area. The dry trend will continue into the start of the afternoon, before an incoming storm system signals rain chances from late afternoon onward. Widespread rain is forecast for this evening and will persist through the overnight hours. Rainfall totals will run between a half inch to one inch.

Rain is expected to transition over to snow early Saturday morning, though only minor accumulations are expected. Much of the area will see little to nothing in terms of accumulations, with a dusting or so possible on grassy/elevated surfaces. The best chance for up to an inch of snow accumulation will be for those living closer to I-80. Road temperatures will remain above freezing Saturday morning, so major travel impacts are not expected. That said, a few slick spots cannot be ruled out.
