(25News Now) - Thursday was an emotional night at The Corn Crib as Prairie Central baseball became the first Hawks team to play a game since the tragic deaths of Dylan Bazzell and Drew Fehr over the weekend. The Hawks fell to El Paso-Gridley 16-3.
Elsewhere in baseball, Morton topped Normal Community 3-0 behind a combined shutout from Tate Roley and Ryan Schaffnit. In a Big 12 vs. Mid-Illini matchup, Normal West doubled up Limestone 10-5. At Eastside Centre, East Peoria edged Bloomington Central Catholic 8-7.
In softball, IVC shutout two-time defending Class 1A state champion Illini Bluffs 2-0. Butler signee Katie Petran tossed 19 strikeouts in a one-hit pitching effort while also adding a home run at the plate.
In lacrosse, the Washington girls beat Dunlap 15-4 while the Washington boys topped Lemont 14-4.
