Coroner releases name of Illinois River drowning victim
PEORIA (25News Now) - Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said an autopsy showed a 58-year-old woman died from drowning in the Illinois River.
Harwood identified the woman as Tamara D. Schaidle of North Woodbine Terrace in Peoria.
Authorities said a passerby discovered the body floating in the river about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday near the RiverPlex on Northeast Water Street.
Schaidle’s family filed a missing person’s report Monday night, and that report helped identify her, said Harwood.
He believes Schaidle had been dead less than 24-hours. Harwood said the manner of Schaidle’s death remains under investigation.
“The coroner’s office continues to collaborate with the Peoria Police Department, and further studies and tests are pending,” Harwood said in a statement.
