PEORIA (25News Now) - A 14-year-old boy is recovering after being shot Saturday night in Peoria.

In a statement, Police Spokeswoman Semone Roth says officers were called to the parking lot of a business in the 900 block of West Johnson around 8:15 Saturday night on a Shot Spotter alert of six rounds fired.

Roth adds shell casings were found, but no victims.

About a half hour later, dispatch informed police a 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital by private vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

Roth says the victim told officers he was shot outside the business by an unknown suspect.

There is no suspect information at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
