Metamora’s MARS/WARS & Limestone’s Argos take top spot in Robotics Competition
Now they advance to the Worlds in Houston, Texas
PEORIA (25News Now) - Science and Technology came together in a massive battle for who created the best robot in the region.
This is the FIRST Robotics Central Illinois Regional Competition where more than 30 teams and their robots came out to Bradley University as the battle of the brains hit center stage.
Seven of those teams were from right here in Central Illinois, including players from Metamora, Peoria, Washington, Tremont, and Dunlap.
Each team had to create a robot with specific instructions, and they spent the fall semester building.
”In this particular program, you have 6 to 8 weeks to develop a robot, and each year they roll out a new game that you have to design the robot to play,” says Tim Koch, the Chair of the Planning Committee for the FIRST Robotics Central Illinois Regional Competition.
Metamora’s MARS/WARS Team 4143 and Limestone Community High School’s Team 1756 came out as the winners from Saturday’s competition, alongside a team from the Champaign area.
