Two rescued from early morning fire in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN (25News Now) - Two elderly people were rescued Friday morning from an early morning fire in Lewistown.

In a press release, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to the 200 block of East Sunnyland Court in Lewistown around 4:30 AM.

Once on scene, deputies were told there were two elderly people still inside.

Deputies made entry to the home, and while dealing with heavy smoke and limited visibility, found a woman that was unable to get out of the home. They helped her out, but were told there was a man still inside. Deputies then re-entered the home, extinguished the fire, and found the man in the back of the home. With help from the Lewistown Fire Department, the man was able to get out.

Both people inside the home were taken from the scene for medical treatment.

The cause of the fire and damage estimates are unknown.
