PEORIA (25News Now) - You’ll want the extra layers as you head out the door on this St. Patrick’s Day! Temperatures will only climb into the mid 30s this afternoon, though breezy northwest winds will produce wind chills in the upper teens and 20s. Early morning clouds will give way to clearing skies and sunshine for most of the day.

The late season cold snap will dip temperatures into the teens early Saturday morning. The combination of very cold temperatures and breezy northwest winds will drop wind chills below zero by daybreak in some locations. The frigid start to the day will be followed up by sub-freezing highs in the upper 20s. Northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph will produce peak wind chills in the teens Saturday afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies will be over central Illinois, with a few flurries possible.

Sunshine returns for Sunday, however it will still be on the cold side of things! Single digit wind chills are forecast to be in place Sunday morning. Afternoon highs will be warmer than Saturday, though highs in the upper 30s will still come in well below average.

Bundle up! Very cold last weekend of Winter.
