Illini season comes to an end in 73-63 NCAA Tournament loss to Arkansas
(25News Now) - The problems that have plagued Illinois basketball all season long once again reared their ugly heads in the Illini’s 73-63 loss to Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Fighting Illini turned the ball over a whopping 17 times and shot just 27% from beyond the arc in the first-round loss to the Razorbacks, a loss that sees Illinois finish a once-promising season 20-13 and short of the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament for the 18th straight year.
Terrence Shannon Jr. was one of the few bright spots for the Illini. He led all scorers with 20 points, but the hole the Illini dug for themselves was just too much to overcome. The Razorbacks led by as many as 17 and the Illini multiple times cut the lead to five but got no closer in the season finale.
