PEORIA (25News Now) - The Diocese of Peoria released a statement on Monday regarding the coinciding days of Friday during lent and St. Patrick’s Day.

In the post on Facebook, it reads on to say that given the number of Catholics with Irish descent in the Peoria area, Bishop Louis Tylka has granted abstinence of obligation from meat on March 17th, 2023.

However, Bishop Tylka is suggesting those that do eat meat, also do volunteer work and practice worship.
