Cold Monday, tracking temperature swings this week
PEORIA (25News Now) - Grab the extra layer and the hot coffee as you get ready to head out the door this Monday morning! Temperatures are in the upper 20s and wind chills are in the teens across central Illinois. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid to upper 30s, however it will only feel like it’s in the upper 20s due to breezy northwest winds that will gust up to 25 mph today. Light snow showers will be possible throughout the day, though no accumulation is expected.

Sunshine returns for Tuesday, however temperatures will stay on the cooler side of things with highs in the low 40s. A big time change is on the way for Wednesday, as southerly winds will cause temperatures to surge all the way into the mid 50s! The above average temperatures will continue Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s across central Illinois.

Plan ahead for the return of wet weather Thursday, as a storm system will bring widespread rain to area. The rain chances will continue into Thursday night and early Friday morning. A few showers may linger into the middle of the day on Friday. We’re keeping an eye on the latest forecast data to help you plan for any St. Patrick’s Day plans. Regardless of the end time of rain showers, it does look like Friday will be a windy day as the storm system exists the region. Colder air returns for next weekend, with highs in the 30s.
