Wanted suspect found, arrested with loaded handgun

PEORIA (25News Now) - A suspect wanted by Peoria police was found and arrested with a loaded weapon Friday afternoon.
According to an official release from the Peoria Police Department, around 5:00 p.m., officers conducted surveillance on a residence associated with a wanted subject. They found the suspect, 25-year-old Andre Johnson, leave the residence, get into a vehicle, and drive away. After following and watching the vehicle pull into a business on Northeast Jefferson, officers approached Johnson and placed him into custody without incident.
During a search, officers found a loaded handgun on Johnson’s person. He was taken to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, Aggravated Domestic Battery, and Disorderly Conduct. Johnson was taken to the Peoria County Jail, where he’s awaiting bonding court Monday at 2:00 p.m., unless the state’s attorney takes action Sunday.
