Metamora defeats East St. Louis in Class 3A semifinal, advances to State Title game

CHAMPAIGN (25News Now) - The Metamora Redbirds are Class 3A State Championship game bound for the second-straight season after a 50-43 win over East St. Louis Friday in the semifinal game.
The Redbirds rallied from a 10-point third quarter deficit, going on a 12-0 run and outscoring the Flyers 16-7 in the fourth quarter to punch their ticket state.
Ethan Kizer paced Metamora with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Tyler Mason added 11 points and 8 boards, while Tyson Swanson chipped in 11 points.
The Redbirds will now face Chicago Simeon in Saturday’s Class 3A State Championship game at 5:30 p.m. in Champaign.
