Suspected drunk driver crashes into West Peoria home early Thursday
PEORIA COUNTY (25News Now) - A woman is accused of drunken driving when she crashed her car into an apartment house early Thursday morning in West Peoria where a resident was sleeping inside.
Tabitha Clift, 30, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. after the crash near the corner of West Farmington and North Maxwell Roads.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office said Clift failed two breathalyzer tests, one test over three times the legal limit. Clift also “appeared to lose her balance multiple times” while taking a field sobriety test, according to the police report.

Dorothy Fowler said she was sleeping at the time but woke up from all the commotion.
“I didn’t know if somebody was breaking in or what. But it was a really loud crash,” Fowler told 25 News.
“The drinking and driving is not good. Look what it did to my home,” she added.
Fowler told police the crash wrecked her flat-screen TV, a favorite chair and an antique grandfather clock worth $1,000 were damaged.
Police arrested Clift for DUI and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
