(25News Now) - The 2023 IHSA Boys State Basketball Finals tipped off on Thursday at State Farm Center in Champaign with Class 1A and 2A action. In Class 2A, Bloomington Central Catholic beat Rockridge 57-44 in a state semifinal showdown. They will play Chicago Depaul College Prep for a state championship on Saturday at 12:45 p.m.

In Class 1A, Bloomington Cornerstone Christian’s remarkable run to their first-ever state finals came to an end. The Cyclones fell 70-46 in the state semifinals to Waterloo Gibault and then dropped the 1A third place game 69-46 to Tuscola later in the evening.

Coming up on Friday, the Metamora Redbirds will play in their second-straight Class 3A state finals. The Redbirds fell in heartbreaking fashion in the 3A State Championship game a year ago, but think that the experience of that loss will be helpful going into this weekend. Metamora plays East St. Louis in a Class 3A state semifinal on Friday at 11:45 a.m. at State Farm Center.
