UPDATE: Woman arrested for fatal stabbing in Peoria

UPDATE (7:25 p.m.) - A man has died from a stabbing Wednesday afternoon on Peoria’s south side, and a woman is in police custody for what is now the city’s third homicide this year.

Peoria Police said they were called about 1:40 pm. to the 1900 block of South Stanley Street, near West Krause Avenue. Officers said they found a man with an apparent stab wound to the chest.

He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. His name has yet to be released by the Peoria County Coroner.

Police said they have arrested Heaven M. Kruzan, 22, for first-degree murder, but the state’s attorney’s office has yet to file former charges against her.

She was arrested without incident in the 1700 block of South Griswold, also on the south side, according to police.

Kruzan is being held in the Peoria County Jail.

PEORIA (25 News Now) - One person is in the hospital with a stab wound.

Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth says the victim was breathing when they were transported.

The condition of the man is not available.

She says one person is in custody but it is not known if it’s the suspect.

Police were called at around 1:40 p.m. to the 1900 block of South Stanley.

The incident is under investigation.
