Central Illinois Super Monday Preview
(25 News Now) - Five teams from Central Illinois remain on the IHSA Boys Basketball State Tournament and all five play on Super Monday with a trip to the state finals on the line. In Class 3A, Metamora is looking to get back to state for the second straight season as they battle Aurora Marmion Academy for the Ottawa Super-Sectional title. Ottawa was also the host of last year’s Super-Sectional win for the Redbirds.
In Class 2A, it’s an Illini Prairie battle at the Bank of Springfield Center as Bloomington Central Catholic takes on Pontiac. The Indians beat the Saints 73-65 in Bloomington back in January.
In Class 1A, No. 2 Illini Bluffs is the top-ranked team remaining in the state tournament. The Tigers play Waterloo Gibault for the Jacksonville Super-Sectional title. Meanwhile, at the 1A ISU Super-Sectional, Bloomington Cornerstone Christian plays in their first-ever Super-Sectional against Chicago St. Francis de Sales.
