BUREAU COUNTY (25 News Now) - A man facing murder charges for a deadly shooting in Bureau County has been found mentally unfit to stand trial.

31-year-old Matthew Pairadee is accused of shooting and killing a 69-year-old man near the intersection of West Railroad and Elm Streets in Ohio, Illinois back in October.

Deputies had to get a search warrant after Pairadee barricaded himself in the basement of his home and held police at bay for several hours before they used chemical agents to get Pairadee out of the house and arrest him.

Court records show Pairadee is expected to be mentally fit to stand trial in one year and has been ordered to undergo treatment.

Pairadee will be back in court for a hearing to re-examine his fitness in June
