PEORIA (25 News Now) - A man has been arrested after a Monday afternoon ShotSpotter alert indicated 71-rounds and full-auto gunfire.
Peoria Police spokesperson Semone Roth says officers responded at around 1:35 p.m. to the 2700 block of West Wiswall.
They were told a man exited his vehicle at the above location and began shooting at another man who was firing back.
The suspect then fled. No one was injured.
During the investigation, officers located a man identified as 19-year-old Dennis Bailey III matching the description of one of the shooters in the area of Antoinette and Griswold.
A high-powered rifle was found on his person during a search, Roth said. Bailey then allegedly attacked a police officer, who wasn’t injured.
Bailey was transported to the police department and later arrested for aggravated battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card.
