MASON COUNTY (25 News Now) - A man arrested in Mason County on homicide charges now has to pay over $200,000 to get out of jail.

Illinois State Police say Paul A. Harris, 41, was arrested Friday for first-degree murder on a warrant. Sunday, bond was set at ten percent of $2 million for the murder charge, plus an additional $10,000 for the warrant.

It comes after State Police were asked by the Mason County Sheriff’s office to investigate a suspicious death. ISP says that around 9:00 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s office responded to a home on Fleming Road in Goofy Ridge for a well-being check. When officers arrived, they found 69-year-old Paul D. Harris, confirmed to be the suspect’s father, dead near the residence.

Harris is still in the Mason County Jail as of Sunday evening, and will have an arraignment hearing Monday at 10:00 a.m..
