Zoo Stampede, Peoria Con and more - March 4
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Check out these fun events happening in our area this weekend!
Miller Park Zoo Stampede
The Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington is hosting its annual Stampede this morning. The Stampede includes a 5K run and a 3K walk, both of which start at 10 a.m. There is also a quarter-mile Kids Fun Run that begins at 9:30 a.m.
When: March 4 (start times vary but packet pick-up goes from 8 - 10 a.m.)
Where: Miller Park Zoo Pavilion in Bloomington
Cost: $45 for 5K run and 3K walk | $10 for Kids Fun Run

Peoria Con
Peoria Con returns to Expo Gardens this weekend! Peoria’s premiere pop culture fest is back for another year of comic book, cosplay, and convention fun. Tickets for the event, which runs through Sunday, are being sold at the door.
When: March 4 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. | March 5 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: Exposition Gardens in Peoria
Cost: $10 per adult | $5 per kid

Day of Jazz
In just one week, the Peoria Riverfront Museum will be saying goodbye to its “Bronzeville at Night” exhibit. As a sendoff, the museum is hosting a “Day of Jazz.” At this free event, attendees will get the chance to watch Disney’s “Soul” and the short documentary “America’s Musical Journey” in the Giant Screen Theater, tour the “Bronzeville to Harlem” exhibit, and attend a special musical performance from Dr. Miracle Amah and Mark de Zwaan at 6 p.m.
When: March 4 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Peoria Riverfront Museum

Hoodie and Sneaker Ball
Last weekend, reporter Brett Brooks introduced us to two cousins creating a name for themselves in the fashion world in Peoria. Now, Mario Young and Ray Flacko are hosting their Inaugural Hoodie and Sneaker Ball, where there will be local fashion and artist vendors to shop from. There will also be music from DJ Scantron.
When: March 4 from 12 - 5 p.m.
Where: George Washington Carver Center in Peoria
Cost: $25 at the door
