25 Sports High School Thursday - March 2, 2023

(25 News Now) - Friday is set to be Sectional Championship day across the state in boys basketball and it will feature four All-Central Illinois matchups. In Class 3A, it will be a Mid-Illini vs. Big 12 matchup in Galesburg as No. 1 Metamora takes on Peoria Richwoods.

At the Class 2A Pleasant Plains Sectional, it’s a crosstown rivalry matchup as Normal U-High and Bloomington Central Catholic meet for the fourth time this season. At the 2A Herscher Sectional, another Central Illinois rivalry matchup takes over the sectional as No. 1 Prairie Central and Pontiac meet for the third time.

At the Class 1A Heyworth Sectional, Lexington takes on Bloomington Cornerstone Christian. Illini Bluffs will play for a 1A sectional title against Camp Point Central at Bushnell-Prairie City.

In girls hoops, Peoria High is gearing up for Friday’s state semifinal matchup against No. 1 Nazareth Academy at 10 a.m. CEFCU Arena in Normal.
