BLOOMINGTON (25 News Now) - A Heyworth man will spend about a month in the county jail for harassing jurors in his domestic violence trial.
Steven Abdullah, 32, and his wife reportedly yelled at jurors and held up signs when they came back for a second day of deliberations in February of last year.
One of the jurors reported Abdullah even posted one of his business cards in the courthouse elevator.
Abdullah has now pleaded guilty to one felony count. In return, prosecutors dismissed a dozen other felonies for either harassing or communicating with jurors.
Abdullah was sentenced to 30-days in the McLean County Jail with credit for two days served, plus he’ll spend 2 1/2-years on probation.
Abdullah’s wife who was the alleged victim in the domestic violence case is awaiting trial in the harassment case. Rosa Toledo, 33, has a status hearing scheduled on Apr. 3.
