Peoria students create their own Black history museum
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Students at Lincoln K-8 School in Peoria have created a Black history museum.
The museum was all student-led - from music, short performances, projects, displays, and the food.
Students said they learned a lot preparing for Thursday’s event.
One student researched George Washington Carver.
“I learned that he’s an agricultural scientist that experiments with peanuts and other crops to make things that I’m sure are pretty wide known today,” said Zoey Gaylord, who’s in the 7th grader.
This was the school’s first year for putting on the museum to mark Black History Month.
