Dream Center Peoria collects prom dresses ahead of 8th annual ‘Promise of Hope’
PEORIA (25 News Now) - Whether someone needs a dress before prom or has a dress they would like to giveaway; Dream Center Peoria has the opportunity to do both.
The 8th annual ‘Promise of Hope’ event is next weekend, on March 3 and 4. The event is a free shopping experience for anyone attending prom.
Krista Bergthold, Cares Director, says they have more than 1,000 dresses to offer young women who are going to prom this year. They also have shoes and jewelry to give out, all for free.
Bergthold says last year more than 100 girls came to get prom dresses from all over central Illinois.
“Just being able to come here, feel loved be shown a little dignity and get a free prom dress is just something really special to be part of,” said Bergthold.
Dresses can be dropped off at the Dream Center next Tuesday and Thursday.
Girls looking for a dress can go to the dream center next Friday and Saturday. School groups will be on Friday from 9 am to 2 pm. Public shopping will be Friday night from 6 pm to 8 pm or Saturday morning from 9 am to 12 pm.
