PEORIA (25 News Now) - Bradley international studies professor Angela Weck says people in Russia do not support that country’s war against Ukraine.

They would protest, but they would be arrested and sent to prison.

She says the men are being drafted and everyone has to “shut up or get out.”

Weck says hundreds of thousands of men in particular have left Russia because they don’t want to fight in the war.

“Russians are attacking elements of their culture,” she said. “So they are bombing their cultures, their libraries, their museums. So they are trying to eradicate everything that will be Ukrainian, because Vladimir Putin argues Ukraine is not a real country, they’re really just Russia’s little brother. When is the last time you beat up your little brother and then expected him to love you.”

Weck doesn’t see an end to the war - saying it will drag on for a long time.
