25 Sports High School Tuesday - February 21, 2023

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (25 News Now) - The girls state high school basketball tournament rolled on Tuesday with sectional semifinals.

In the Class 3A Peoria Richwoods Sectional, Washington rolls past Geneseo 58-41, and Peoria High gets a 63-34 win over Galesburg. Peoria High and Washington will play in the sectional championship Thursday.

In the Class 4A O’Fallon Sectional, Normal Community defeats East Moline 60-22. The Iron will play O’Fallon Thursday for the sectional title.

In the Class 2A Coal City Sectional, Fieldcrest gets a win Bishop McNamara 56-33. The Knights will face Peotone Thursday in the sectional championship. In the Class 2A Rockridge Sectional, Dee-Mack defeats Monmouth-Roseville 64-50, and Eureka gets a win over Sherrard 59-45. Heart of Illinois Conference foes Dee-Mack and Eureka will play for the sectional title Thursday.

In the Class 1A Abingdon-Avon Sectional, Elmwood falls to Brown County 47-35 and Havana rolls past Annawan 58-30. Brown County and Havana will play for the sectional championship Thursday.

Tuesday was also wrestling team sectional. The Washington Panthers are going back to state as a team. The Panthers win their sectional title tonight over Crystal Lake Central. They will wrestle Friday at state. In Class 1A at the El Paso-Gridley sectional, Canton and LeRoy advance to the state finals.
