BLOOMINGTON (25 News Now) - A McLean County man is charged with drug-induced homicide for the death of a Bloomington woman almost a year ago.
Brooke Bartnik-Bargery, 39, died in Bloomington during the early morning hours of April 16, 2022, according to her obituary.
Earlier this month, a statewide grand jury indicted Jason L. Tolan, 42, with addresses in Normal and Colfax, for drug-induced homicide.
Other charges allege Tolan supplied Bargery with methamphetamine and fentanyl the day before her death.

The drug-induced homicide charge is a Class X felony with a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
Records indicate Tolan has a history of drug crimes. The Illinois Department of Corrections website shows Tolan was placed on parole in August 2021 after serving just over three years of a 10-year prison sentence for manufacturing or delivering cocaine in McLean County.
Tolan is now being held on $500,000 bond, meaning he has to come up with $50,000 cash to be released before his trial.
The McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Illinois Attorney General’s office are prosecuting the case, and Bloomington Police said they’re still investigating Bargery’s death.
