(25 News Now) - The individual high school wrestling season came to an end on Saturday night and came to an end with five state champions from Central Illinois. That includes two from Washington. At 145 pounds, senior Kannon Webster won his third IHSA State Championship and finished his senior year a perfect 50-0. His teammate, Justin Hoffer was the Class 2A state champ at 220 pounds.

In Class 1A, Canton’s Joseph Norton is the 170-pound state champ, capping off a 51-1 season. At 145 pounds, Illini Bluffs’ Paul Ishikawa is the state champion with an overtime win in the state championship match. At 160 pounds, El Paso-Gridley’s Dax Gentes dominated his way to a major decision victory and a state title.

Saturday also saw the tipoff of the IHSA boys basketball State Tournament. In Class 3A, Peoria Notre Dame rolled past Limestone 69-28. In Class 1A, No. 2 Illini Bluffs raced past North Fulton 59-28 while Peoria Christian handled business against Lowpoint-Washburn 84-48. In Class 2A, El Paso-Gridley snapped a three-game losing streak against Fieldcrest and beat the Knights 57-49 while Tremont rolled past Midwest Central 90-62. In the pool, Normal Community won the IHSA Sectional at Pekin on Saturday afternoon.
