(25 News Now) - Thursday was Regional Championship day in girls high school hoops with a number of area teams punching their tickets to sectionals. At the Class 3A Limestone regional, Washington outlasted Peoria Notre Dame 59-48 in a battle of state-ranked teams to win the regional title. The Panthers advance to next week’s Peoria Richwoods sectional. Also advancing to the Richwoods sectional is Peoria High. The state-ranked Lions topped Dunlap 56-34 to win the Dunlap regional title.

In Class 4A, Normal Community is headed to the O’Fallon Sectional. The Iron beat Minooka 60-52 to win their own regional.

In Class 2A, Dee-Mack won their first regional championship since 1987 with a 51-32 win over Tremont at the Olympia regional. The Chiefs move onto the Rockridge Sectional. In Class 1A, Elmwood won the Illini Bluffs regional with a 42-29 victory over Princeville. Havana beat No. 5 Mendon Unity 55-50 to win their own regional. Both teams advance to next week’s 1A A-Town Sectional

In boys hoops, Prairie Central is the No. 1 team in the state in Class 2A
