25 Sports High School Saturday - February 11, 2023
CENTRAL ILLINOIS (25 News Now) - The regular season for high school boys basketball is beginning to wrap up. Class 2A No. 4 Normal U-High hosting Intercity rival Bloomington Central Catholic for senior day. Saturday was the rubber-match meeting between the Saints and Pioneers. Normal U-High gets the rubber-match win 58-48 over Central Catholic, led by Ty Blake’s 18 points.
Also Saturday, Normal Community falls to Class 4A No. 2 Moline 64-39, and Peoria Manual defeats Cahokia 60-50.
The girls high school basketball state tournament tipped off Saturday. In Class 2A, Eureka defeats Peoria Manual 72-55 behind senior Ellie Cahill’s record-setting day. Cahill had 47 points in the winning, setting a Eureka record for most points in a game, girls or boys, in school history.
It was also sectional title day in high school wrestling throughout Illinois.
