(25 News Now) - It was a special senior night for Peoria High girls basketball on Thursday as Lions star senior Denali Craig-Edwards and her dad, head coach Meechie Edwards, and mom, assistant coach Kelly Craig-Edwards, celebrated senior day and a 71-19 win over Bloomington to cap off an undefeated Big 12 season and conference title. Elsewhere in the Big 12, Peoria Notre Dame topped Peoria Manual 76-13.
In small schools action, Class 2A No. 6 Fieldcrest beat Princeton 83-39 while Bloomington Central Catholic got a 66-47 win over Eureka.
In boys hoops, Metamora is ready to defend their newly-found No. 1 state ranking. In junior high hoops, Metamora Grade School won the IESA Class 3A 7th Grade State Championship with a 50-21 win over South Holland McKinley, capping off a perfect season. In Class 1A, Peoria St. Jude is a state champ with a 28-25 win. In Class 2A Peoria St. Philomena is the state champion.
In the pool, Bloomington Central Catholic won the Illini Prairie Conference meet.
It was a special signing day at Morton as a pair of Potters football stars signed to play Division I college football. Offensive lineman Ian Mutchler is headed to South Dakota State while defensive end Jack Stump will play at Lindenwood.
